Government House Chapel, Oke Igbein, Abeokuta today had friends and well wishers who were there for the Independence Thanksgiving Service led by the wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun in her capacity as the Iya Ijo of the chapel.
Mrs. Abiodun who performed her first official role at the chapel as the new Iya Ijo expressed her joy and appreciation at the intercessory role played by it by praying for the peace and progress of the State as well as the success of the administration.
She read the first Bible passage, taken from Hebrews chapter 8 verse 8-12 and urged Nigerians not to rest on their oars but continue to be committed to making Nigeria better as wished by the founding fathers.
The preacher, Most Revd. Jacob Adeaga in his sermon said, God was set to begin a new thing and establish a covenant for Nigeria according to the Bible passage read by the First Lady.
He enjoined Nigerians to have unshaken faith in God and believe that they would overcome all challenges facing them if they did not relent in prayers to God.
Prayers were offered by the congregation for the first family of the State, government officials, civil servants, the people of the state and Nigeria as a whole.
The service was attended by top government functionaries, service chiefs and people from all walks of life.
