Ogun NUJ Secretary, Bunmi Adigun, Honoured with 2025 Excellence in Leadership, Journalism Award

The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, has been nominated for the prestigious Excellence in Leadership and Journalism of the Year 2025 award by the organisers of the Southwest Legendary Awards.
The official letter of notification was presented to Adigun in his office by the Convener and Chief Executive Officer of DDMC Events, Prince Taiwo Gbadebo. He explained that the NUJ scribe was carefully selected after a thorough review of his professional track record. Prince Gbadebo praised Adigun for his consistency, commitment, and due diligence in journalism and leadership.
In his response, Comrade Bunmi Adigun expressed gratitude to the organisers for finding him worthy of the honour. He also commended the Southwest Legendary Awards for maintaining integrity and consistency in recognising outstanding individuals who have contributed to the growth of society.
The award, which will be presented on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the JM Royal Haven Event Centre, GRA Sagamu, Ogun State, marks the seventh edition of the Southwest Legendary Awards, a platform that celebrates excellence across various fields.
Speaking further, Adigun described the recognition as a source of encouragement, saying, “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to accept this award. It validates my dedication to impactful storytelling and community development in Southwest Nigeria.”
He added that the award is not just a personal milestone but a call to greater responsibility in using journalism as a tool for nation-building and community progress.
Looking ahead, Adigun prayed for the continuous success of the Southwest Legendary Awards, stressing, “I’m excited to see the impact this event continues to have on our community. I pray that the organisation will reach many more milestones, and I’m grateful to be a part of its journey. May God bless and honour all involved.”
