Ogun Motorbike Unions Impound 150 Motorcycles For Defying Gov. Abiodun’s Directive on COVID-19

Following the threat by the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to ban Okada operation in the state,if they refuse to comply with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines on COVID-19

Taskforce on Bike Riders within Ogun Central Senatorial District, Ogun state has impounded not less than 150 motorcycles for disregarding the guidelines of the state government on facemasks and carrying of passengers.

The taskforce which led by the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) state chairman, Amalgamated Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) Deputy State Chairman and the Riders and Owners Motorcycles Organisation (ROMO) Romo State Secretary embarked upon on the clampdown operation and enforcement in different parts of the state.

The taskforce move from Odo Eran Obantoko, Obantoko junction , Adatan, Saje, Elega, Lafenwa, Ita-Oshin, Panseke, and Kuto areas of Abeokuta, the state capital to impound any motorcycle rider not putting on facemasks or carrying more than one passenger.

Speaking to ,the Deputy state chairman,AMORAN, Kazeem Lawal said the task force apprehended and saction any Okada Rider who refused to follow the stipulated directives of the Governor; Which included use of facemask as well as carriage of one passenger at a time on a motorcycle.

He added, the task force has impounded 150 motorcycles and the condition to release the seized motorcycles is that, the owner must provide helmet and nose mask.

Lawal called on Okada riders in the State to strictly adhere to the orders put in place by government and health authorities to curtail and contain the spread of coronavirus.he concluded
