Ogun Health Group Debunks Rumors of Poor Response in Anthony Joshua’s Fatal Highway Crash

The Centre for Community Development, Health and Family Enhancement Initiatives has strongly denied social media rumours claiming there was a lack of ambulance services and medical personnel following a recent fatal accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway involving boxer Anthony Joshua.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the organisation described the reports as “false and misleading,” and affirmed that emergency response systems along the busy expressway are operational and effective.
The accident, which occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulted in the loss of two lives. However, the Centre insists that rescue efforts were timely and professionally coordinated.
“Primary Health Care Centres and State Hospitals in Ogun State have witnessed rapid and significant improvement under the current administration, particularly in emergency preparedness, response time, and equipment deployment,” the statement read.
It further clarified that the section of the road where the accident happened is a six-lane highway in good condition, without potholes or major defects that could hinder rescue operations.
The group also confirmed that at least four fully equipped ambulances are stationed along that stretch of the expressway as part of Ogun State’s emergency medical response network.
Eyewitnesses and passersby praised the swift intervention of medical teams and officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who ensured the victims were moved to a medical facility promptly.
The Centre emphasized the state government’s investment in ambulance deployment across major highways and urged the public to rely on credible information and avoid spreading unverified claims.
The statement was signed by the Executive Director, Igbolipe Olumide Fidelis.
