LG Poll: Youth Group Disassociates self from Adopting Majekodunmi/Sotayo Candidature in Abeokuta South

Ahead of 2021 Chairmanship APC Primaries polls, the All Progressive Youth League, Abeokuta South Chapter , on Sunday disassociated themselves from the endorsement of, Mr. Omolaja Majekodunmi and Mr. Sotayo as chairmanship/ Vice Chairmanship Candidates of Abeokuta south Local government in Ogun state.

This was contained in a statement by the group’s state Publicity Secretary, Adewale Adeleye, on sunday.

According to the statement, “APC Youth league is a group that works directly for and with the party at the state level. We have no preferred aspirants except those adopted by the party alone”

“Any individual using the name of the group, logo etc to mobilize support for an aspirant in the forthcoming local government election is not representing the interest of our group but working for personal or material aggrandizement, and shouldn’t be taken seriously”

The group maintained that “until the party (APC) comes up with the names of its candidates for the polls, it would not associate itself with any aspirant”

The group ,however cautions its members across the 236wards in Ogun State to refrain from drawing the name of the league in dirty waters and wait for appropriate directives from the party.

“No individual aspiration supersedes the decision of the party, hence any local chapter or individual found wanting in this regard might be sanctioned in line with existing laws of the APC Youth League” the statement concludes

It would be recalled that, some Political groups in Abeokuta South local government under the umbrella of APC on Sunday threw their weight behind Mr. Majekodunmi and Surveyor Sotayo as the party’s candidate.

But the APC youth league in a counter move by its PRO, Balogun Olasupo denounced their involvement in the purported adoption saying, “the group doesn’t recognize any of those who claim to have represented the group”.

The group said it has not endorsed anyone as its candidate.

He further clarified that the group belong to the party and will wait until the State working committee of the party decide on who is to be the flag bearer of the party in coming local government polls.

They further warned anyone or set of people who have been going about collecting money from aspirant to support them to desist from such or face the wrath of the law as the group is legally registered and will not hesitate to charge anyone who wants to ruin the image of the group.
