Ipokia LG Boss, Avoseh Leads Flag-Off of Second Phase of Immunisation Campaign

On Saturday, 28 June 2025, the second phase of the June edition of the immunisation campaign was officially flagged off at the Maun Primary Health Care Centre in Ipokia Local Government. The event marked the rollout of various immunisations targeted at children, particularly those under the age of five, as part of a tripartite immunisation programme supported by international donors, the World Bank, the World Health Organization, the Federal Government, the State Government, and Local Government authorities.

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, graced the occasion and demonstrated leadership by personally administering vaccines to four children. This gesture was aimed at encouraging public participation and reinforcing confidence in the immunisation exercise.

The programme had commenced about two weeks earlier with the training and retraining of healthcare workers to ensure seamless execution. The Immunisation Programme Coordinator delivered a keynote address, while Mr. Kennedy Adejo, a representative from Abuja, was also present to lend support to the initiative.

Several stakeholders attended the event, including Mr. Pogbe Mathew, former Chairman of Ipokia Local Government Josu Amos, Mr. Koshoedo Anthony, Mr. Honvu Gbesu, Mr. Sagbo Michael, Mr. Asani Vojo, Mr. Olamide Busari, Hon. Dagbeyon Apari, Mr. Okesola Calitious, Mrs. Zosu Christianah, Mr. Oke Sunday, Mrs. Apesi Maria, Zannu Kehinde, and Mrs. Whanvo Maria.

The flag-off underscores the collective commitment of government officials, health experts, and community leaders to safeguarding the health and future of children in Ipokia Local Government. The exercise is expected to significantly improve immunisation coverage and reduce vaccine-preventable diseases in the region.
