Gov. Abiodun won his election fair and square- Ifekayode Akinbode
The Consultant to Ogun state Governor on media, Honourable Ifekayode Akinbode has insisted that his Principal, Prince Dapo Abiodun won last Saturday’s Governorship elections held in the state in a free and fair manner.
Akinbode made this known in a TVC Breakfast Show on Thursday while answering questions with Political Analyst, Nelson Ekujumi on Focus: 2023 Elections- Incidents That Shaped Nigeria’s Poll.
He said obviously in reaction to claims by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP earlier that the party, All progressives Congress rigged the election in connivance with officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security operatives.
The PDP and its governorship candidate in the election, Ladi Adebutu had embarked on protested the outcome of the election at the Abeokuta office of INEC on Tuesday.
The opposition party also vowed that it would challenge the declaration of Governor Dapo Abiodun as the winner of the election at the tribunal.
Akinbode dismissed the claims by the PDP, he insisted that the election was peaceful and true reflection of people’s expectations, and it won the governorship election “fair and square”.
He said this was despite political thuggery, vote- buying and violence allegedly perpetrated by the People Democratic party and it’s candidates in the state.
“We all witnessed how these desperate politicians and their gullible followers, bent on wrestling power by force, broke all rules of civility and violated electoral guidelines.
Akinbode said that the people of Ogun state stood firm and chose good governance and infrastructure development against deceptive candidates.
The media consultant advised the candidates that lost election to accept the magnanimous olive branch offered by the winner of the election and join him in his mission to build a better state.
