Breaking: President Tinubu Accepts Resignation of Minister Geoffrey Nnaji

ABUJA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Mr. Geoffrey Uche Nnaji as the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, following a series of allegations leveled against him.

The minister’s departure was announced in a statement issued on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

According to the statement, Nnaji tendered his resignation in a letter addressed to the President. In the letter, he expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the nation. The former minister also claimed that he had become “a target of blackmail by political opponents,” a factor that appears to have precipitated his decision to step down.

President Tinubu, who appointed Nnaji to the cabinet in August 2023, acknowledged the outgoing minister’s service and wished him success in his future endeavours.

The resignation comes amid unspecified allegations that have been circulating around the minister. No immediate replacement has been announced for the vacant cabinet position.
