Abiodun Appoints Six New Permanent Secretaries to Strengthen Ogun Civil Service

Abeokuta – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of six new Permanent Secretaries as part of efforts to strengthen the leadership capacity of the state’s Civil/Public Service and sustain ongoing public sector reforms.

The appointments were announced on Friday by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, on behalf of the Head of Service, Mr. I.O. Saka, following vacancies created by the statutory retirement of former Permanent Secretaries.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Dr. Solomon Oluseyi Sokunbi, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye Akinwunmi, Mr. Adedeji Akanbi Sowunmi, Mr. Olumide Olusola Ogunbo, Mr. Dolamu Isaiah Idowu-Agida, and Tpl. Musinat Abiola Ayodele.

According to the Head of Service, the appointments were made by Governor Abiodun in accordance with Section 208(c) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), after due consideration of merit, professionalism, competence, and inclusiveness.

He disclosed that all six appointees successfully completed the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme, a mandatory requirement for appointment into the state’s highest public service leadership positions, including the office of Permanent Secretary.

Before their appointments, Dr. Solomon Oluseyi Sokunbi served as Director of Hospital Services in the Ministry of Health; Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye Akinwunmi was Director of Chieftaincy Affairs in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Mr. Adedeji Akanbi Sowunmi served as Director of Investments in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments; Mr. Olumide Olusola Ogunbo was the Project Manager of the Ogun State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN); Mr. Dolamu Isaiah Idowu-Agida served as Director of Administration and Supplies in the Bureau of Government House and General Services; while Tpl. Musinat Abiola Ayodele was Director of Urban Development in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Saka stated that the appointments underscore the administration’s commitment to building a more efficient, responsive, and result-oriented Civil/Public Service capable of delivering quality service to the people of Ogun State.

He noted that the new Permanent Secretaries have been charged to demonstrate exemplary leadership, integrity, dedication, professionalism, and selfless service in the discharge of their responsibilities, in line with Governor Abiodun’s Building Our Future Together Agenda.

“The appointees are expected to contribute significantly to the continued transformation of the Ogun State Civil/Public Service and support the effective implementation of government policies and programmes for the overall benefit of the people,” the statement said.

The Head of Service further announced that Governor Abiodun will formally swear in the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries on a date to be communicated later.
