Tinubu Approves Minor Cabinet Reshuffle as Edun, Dangiwa Leave FEC

ABUJA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, effecting the exit of two cabinet members and the appointment of their successors, according to a memo issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, and Housing and Urban Development Minister, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, are to leave the cabinet. Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, formerly Minister of State in the finance ministry, has been elevated to replace Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

In a separate development, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as the ministerial nominee and minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The memo directed Dangiwa to hand over to the Minister of State in that ministry.

The statement, signed by Senator George Akume, directed that all handover processes be completed on or before the close of business on Thursday, 23rd April 2026.

“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Akume said.

The President, Akume noted, acted within the powers conferred on him by Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Tinubu thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavours.

The President further assured all cabinet members that “the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.”
