Ogun Trade fair 2021: Odeda LG Wins Big , Bags Multiple awards
Chairman, Transition Committee of Odeda local government, Hon. Semiu Bola Lawal, popularly known as ‘SEMBOL’ has won three different awards for his local government and residents in the just concluded “Ogun International Trade Fair”, Newsacoross reports.
The awards were received on Monday by Mrs Taiwo Akintomide, Head of Local government Administration on behalf of the local government and all residents of Odeda during the round-up session of the 10th Ogun International Trade Fair, where several local agriculture, commerce and farm produces were transacted by all and sundry.
The three awards won by the local government are; “Best Local Government at the Fair”, “Most Outstanding Local Government Pavilion” and “Best Local Government In Agricultural Products” respectively.
In reaction, ‘SEMBOL’ expressed his profound and appreciated all distinguished personalities for their participation and recognitions, adding that hosting of this year’s International Trade Fair, 2021 in Odeda LG has in no small measure boost and model the state of agriculture, commerce and trade of his local government beyond its borders.
‘SEMBOL’ also appreciated the governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his contributions to Agricultural sector since the inception of office, noting that he has brought a lot of innovation in farming techniques and agribusiness, extending to infrastructure, social welfare and youth empowerment, which have also made it easy for his Odeda local government to host this year’s International Trade Fair with less stress.
It will also be recalled that ‘SEMBOL’ gave an address on Tuesday 8th April, 2021, prior to the commencement of the just concluded Trade Fair as captured below:

“It gives me great honour to here today. I want to appreciate the Almighty God for his mercies and in our lives and particularly, for making the 10th Gateway International Trade Fair, 2021 a reality.”
“I wish to express my profound appreciation to the distinguished personalities here present gracing this year’s International Trade Fair, 2021.”
“I equally want to appreciate the Almighty Allah for giving me His grace to stand here to deliver a welcome speech on Odeda Local Government day, at the on-going 10th Gateway International Trade Fair.”
“As the saying goes, life and culture is dynamic, likewise, technology is advancing every day, and it is important that Nigeria as a Nation should key into this so that she will be able to model her Agriculture, Commerce and Trade beyond her borders.”
“It is disheartening that, despite vast natural resources and abundant land in the Nation, Nigeria will still depends heavily on importation of farm produce such as rice, wheat, rubber and so on and this has affected our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the years.”
“However, I want to sincerely appreciate our amiable and indefatigable Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR for His contributions to Agriculture since His inception of office as Governor of Ogun State. He has brought a lot of innovation in farming, farming techniques and techniques and technologies and technologies and agribusiness deriving from ISEYA, mantra of infrastructure, social welfare and wellbeing, youth empowerment and so on.”
“He supported Forty Thousand (40,000) Smallholder farmers who were give palliatives with inputs such as seeds, cassava cuttings insecticides, fertilizers and herbicides. Also Ten Thousand Broilers farmers were empowered across the StiiIate, to mention but a few.”
“On our part, as Odeda Local Government, we have resuscitated the moribund poultry by stocking it with birds and these birds have been producing eggs which are being sold to people at reduced prices. We have also put in efforts at ensuring re-modeling agriculture, commerce and trade beyond the Local Government borders with modern technology.”
“In addition to this, Odeda Local Government has trained well over Three Hundred (300) Youth in various trades and skills to make them productively independent.”
“Just recently, precisely in March, 2021, Odeda Local Government equally trained Forty (40) Young Fish Farmers in conjunction with the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan and they have been fully empowered.”
“I want to appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria to equip all the Seven Hundred and Seventy-Four (774) Local Governments in Nigeria, with modern technology equipment such as tractors, (machines), herbicides fertilizers etc so that the grassroots will have access to modern facilities which will in turn boost agricultural products in Nigeria. These farmers should be trained and retrained on how to use the modern facilities.”
“However, I want to encourage all investors and peasants farmers and Ogun State Indigenous to come to Odeda Local Government and enjoy the vast farmlands and mineral resources that abound in our lost glory when we were having Cocoa, Cotton, Palm Kernel, Groundnuts, Cashew nuts, Rubber Plantations and other mineral resources.”
