Ogun Assembly Re-Invites Traditional Ruler On Allegation Of Land Grabbing, Others
Ogun State House of Assembly has re-invited the Olu of Obafemi, Oba Taofeek Owolabi Kayode to appear before it on Wednesday, 10th July, 2023 in relation to an alleged case of forcible entry on the landed properties belonging to some members of Agboro Latunde Community Development Association in Obafemi- Owode Local Government Area
The Chairman, House Committee on Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions, Hon. Oluseun Adesanya, issued the invitation during a committee meeting with the representatives of the Community Development Association led by the Chairman, Chief Olaseni Adeoye and the Secretary Mr. Koyade Onitande at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Hon. Adesanya in company of other lawmakers, explained that the new invitation to the monarch became imperative, as part of the quasi-judicial function of the Assembly and to give all concerned parties in the dispute, a fair hearing in accordance with the principle of the rule of law.
He stated that there were petitions against the monarch on alleged cases of land grabbing, threat to life and conduct likely to cause communal clash and genocide in Agboro Community, warning that failure to honour the invitation by the monarch would result in the Assembly requesting security operatives to take further appropriate steps.
In another development, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide played host to the National body of the Old Students Association of Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, with an assurance that present administration remained committed to providing enabling environment for alumni associations to contribute to the advancement of quality educational and infrastructural development of schools across the State.
Elemide, who pledged his continued support to the body, stressed that his alma mata had contributed in no small measures to values and virtues of pupils who were now making waves in their respective endeavours.
Earlier, the National President of the Association, Kunle Oguntoyinbo congratulated Rt. Hon. Elemide on his emergence as the Speaker of the House, noting that his new role remained a pride to the body.
He further appealed for the State Government intervention in addressing the issues of encroachment on the school’s landed property, soliciting more building infrastructure and posting of more teachers amongst others to the School.
