Ogun APC Disowns Suspension of Former Governor Amosun, Labels News as “Malicious and Fabricated”

Abeokuta – The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogun State Chapter, has issued a strong statement disclaiming a widely circulated news item that alleged the suspension of former Governor and prominent party leader, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. The party labeled the report as “malicious and entirely fabricated.”
In an official public notice dated August 21, 2025, and signed by the Director of Publicity, Nuberu A. Olufemi, the Ogun APC stated that the publication was a “reckless and deliberate attempt by faceless individuals and political adversaries to create disaffection, cause confusion within the ranks of our great party, and bring the APC into disrepute.” The notice firmly urged the general public, party members, and the media to disregard the “piece of fiction in its entirety.”
The party’s statement clarified that the purported “State Working Committee” meeting and the actions described in the fake news item were “complete fabrications.” The APC stressed that the report did not originate from any official or sanctioned organ of the Ogun State chapter.
In response to the false publication, the Ogun State APC leadership has taken decisive action. The party has formally reported the matter to the relevant security agencies and requested a full-scale investigation to unmask the individuals and groups responsible for what they called “criminal impersonation and cybercrime.” The party also warned that it would not hesitate to prosecute anyone found to be involved in the creation, funding, or dissemination of the falsehood to the fullest extent of the law.
The official notice concluded with a stern warning to the purveyors of the fake news, emphasizing that their actions constitute a “serious crime with grave consequences.” The party reaffirmed its unity and focus on delivering good governance, stating that it will not be distracted by the “antics of desperate elements.”
