Gov Abiodun’s aide, Lawal, seeks Ogun Speaker’s support for Youths initiatives

The Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on Youth and Sports, Comrade Olamide Lawal has solicited the support of the Ogun State House of Assembly for his several youth driven ideas.

Comrade Lawal maintained that the Legislature was an important arm of government that cannot be underrated in any participatory democracy.

The Special Assistant stated this during a visit of the Liason Committee, Ogun State Coordinate of the All Progressives Congress Youth League, APCYL, to the Speaker, Ogun state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Olakunle Oluomo, in his Oke-Mosan office.

He called for support of the Legislature towards empowering the youths, through relevant and youth-friendly legislations.

“We want to assure you of the support of Ogun state youths in general and seek your support for Empowerment opportunities for the youths of Ogun State” Lawal submitted

The S.A who is also the Coordinator of the league appreciated the support and physical presence of the Speaker during the league’s Freedom Walk recently held in February, this year.

Responding, Rt Hon Oluomo advised the youths to get involved in grassroots politics.

He explained that Youths could be better positioned in governance and decision making processes when involved in practical politics.

” Go and vie for elective positions. Stop being supporters always. You too can contest and win elections”

” I charge you. Let them know you at home. Stop being Social Media politicians. Come out and contest for elective positions. Who said you cannot win? ” he admonished

He however challenged the youths to have second addresses by engaging themselves in meaningful vocations that could raise their economic standards beyond politics.

” Apart from being Politicians, try and get another address. Get something doing. Let people know you with a particular vocation or trade aside politics alone” said Oluomo.
