Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has commended Gboyega Isiaka (GNI) of African Democratic Congress, Alhaja Salimot of people Democratic Party and their loyalists for joined All Progressive Party [APC] on Tuesday for choosing Path Of Honour to join the party.
He also warned former governor Ibikunle Amosun loyalists who defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state from Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to follow proper channel to become members of the ruling party.
Abiodun stated this on Tuesday at the formal declaration and presentation of APC flag to former ADC governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta.
The governor added that, any defectors who wanted to join the party should follow the appropriate channel.
According to him, “as you can see, if anybody intend to join us, we know the right thing to do for anyone that wish to be part of us. You can’t join our party through the backdoor, if you truly want to be one of us, you must join through the normal way”.
He therefore enjoined APC members to join hands with the defectors without discrimination.
He however assured the defectors of political appointments, saying “we have kept appointment for you because we know you you are coming.”
“Be rest assured, there is still lots of appointments to be made, this is Ogun State and we have alot that we can ensure that everybody has a sense of belonging and participation,” Abiodun averred.
Menawhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to make Ogun State one party state ahead of 2023 general elections.
The National South West Zonal Secretary of APC, Mr. Ayo Afolabi disclosed this on Tuesday at the official declaration and presentation of APC flag to thousands of defectors from ADC and PDP in the state.
Afolabi opined that, with the rave of mass defection to the ruling party, the state will soon become one party state.
In his response, the former ADC governorship candidate, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka said his defection to APC was as a result of Governor Abiodun’s personality and all inclusive governance extended to the opposition parties in the state.
Isiaka, a three-term governorship candidate in the state therefore assured of his support and loyalty to the progress of the party in the state.
He urged his supporters across the 20 local governments of the state to go to their wards and register with the party.
“I want to assure you that what we are doing here today is a result of his personality, also as a party, the progressives which we in the believe movement, we have in the past years, engendered in social welfarism which the governor has done very well.
“We are one now and I’m enjoining all of us to go out and start attending our ward meetings, we are coming with our mantra and values of integrity, oneness, social welfare and accountability”.
