Breaking: Osun PDP Leadership Caucus Affirms Loyalty to Party, Endorses Tinubu for 2027 and Adeleke for 2026 Re-election

OSOGBO, OSUN STATE – The Leadership Caucus of the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a crucial meeting at the Government House in Osogbo today, culminating in a communique that solidifies the party’s stance on recent political developments in the state.

Following extensive consultations, debates, surveys, and opinion sampling from various stakeholders including traditional rulers, community leaders, civil servants, retirees, religious leaders, market men and women, as well as interactions with party members and the general public across Osun State, the Caucus reviewed several key issues.

The communique highlighted the understanding that “all politics is local,” emphasising the critical importance of voters’ and party members’ feelings and aspirations in decisions regarding party affiliations.

The Caucus noted that the majority of All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Osun State are opposed to the idea of Governor Adeleke defecting to the APC, an idea that did not originate from the governor himself. The communique pointed out that “some APC leaders, based on entrenched interests, have demonstrated hostility and resentment towards Governor Ademola Adeleke. Some went on social media and national television to call Governor Adeleke all kinds of unprintable names.”

Furthermore, the PDP leadership acknowledged that “the majority of PDP members in Osun State are not happy about the idea of the defection of Governor Adeleke to APC, but only reluctantly agreed to follow Governor Adeleke wherever he goes to show their love, support and loyalty to his leadership.”

Crucially, the caucus affirmed that “the state governor, the state government, and the PDP as a political party remain very popular and acceptable above all other political parties in Osun State.”
Consequently, the leaders resolved on several key points:

The PDP in Osun State recognises that “Osun State is the ancestral home of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which makes the President the son of Osun State.” Therefore, the Osun State PDP “hereby adopts and endorses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.”

The PDP in Osun State “reaffirms its adoption and endorsement of Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election in the 2026 governorship election on the platform of the PDP.”

The caucus firmly resolved that “Governor Ademola Adeleke and all members of the PDP in Osun State should remain in the PDP.”
* The leadership of the PDP in Osun State has been directed to disseminate this resolution to all structures of the party within the state.

Finally, the state governor has been enjoined to “forge ahead with governance and implementation of the administration’s Five Point Agenda.”

The communique was signed by a comprehensive list of prominent PDP leaders in Osun State, including Governor Ademola Adeleke, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Prince Kola Adewusi, Senator Lere Oyewumi, Hon. Bamidele Salam, Hon. Moruf Adewale Adebayo, Hon. Lukman Mudashiru, Hon. Soji Adetunji, Hon. Lanre Oladeebo, Hon Clement Akanni, Rt. Hon.
