Breaking: Gunmen Invade Church, Murder SO-SAFE CORPS Director in Ipokia
A horrific incident occurred on Sunday morning in Idi-Iroko, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, as Yomi Adetula, the Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling for the Social Orientation and Safety (So-Safe) Corps, was brutally murdered by suspected assassins while attending church services.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack took place at a church located off Old Baggage Road, Idi-Iroko, shortly after 10 am. The gunmen, who were reportedly armed with various weapons, including a hammer and machete, invaded the church and targeted Adetula.
Residents described the scene as chaotic, stating that the assailants initially shot Adetula, but the bullets failed to penetrate. The attackers then proceeded to inflict fatal wounds on him using their other weapons.
“It was a coordinated attack, and from the way they operated, it’s clear they were hired assassins,” a resident told our newspaper.
The authorities have been notified, and an investigation is expected to follow. The motive behind the murder is currently unknown.
