Breaking: APC Begins Sale of Nomination Forms for Remo Constituency Bye-Elections
Abuja– The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday commenced the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for aspirants vying for the Remo Federal Constituency and other seats in the forthcoming National Assembly bye-elections.
A source close to this Newspaper revealed that about 22 aspirants from Remo Federal Constituency are contesting for the position left vacant by the late Hon. Adewunmi Ijaya in Ogun State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bye-elections, scheduled for August 16 across 12 states, aim to fill legislative vacancies caused by the deaths or resignations of lawmakers who left office to contest for executive positions.
Aspirants Express Confidence Ahead of Polls
Among the aspirants, Mr. Oscar Aghedo, contesting for the Ovia South-West/North-East Federal Constituency in Edo State, pledged to prioritise infrastructural development and effective representation if elected.
Speaking to journalists at the APC national secretariat after obtaining his forms, Aghedo assured his constituents of quality representation.
“Today is a great day for me, having purchased these forms to run for the Federal House of Representatives. My intention is to make good laws and ensure proper representation, especially in infrastructural development,” he said.
Aghedo appealed to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to conduct credible and transparent primaries on July 19. He also promised to focus on youth empowerment and constituency projects if elected.
Kaduna Aspirant Vows to Sustain Peace
Similarly, Yakubu Waziri, an aspirant for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, noted the improved security situation in his constituency, attributing it to the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and the Kaduna State governor.
“We are not just experiencing relative peace; we are enjoying permanent peace, to the glory of God,” he said.
Waziri promised to prioritise security and youth empowerment if elected, expressing confidence in his chances due to widespread support from his constituents and the governor.
The APC primaries for the bye-elections are set for July 19, with the main polls scheduled for August 16.
