Former Ogun Agriculture Commissioner Celebrates Appointment of Ex-Student as Ondo State Youth and Sports Commissioner

Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina, former Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State, has extended warm congratulations to his former student, Comrade Omoyofunmi Segun Henry, on his recent appointment as the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State.

In a heartfelt message, Dr Odedina, on behalf of his family, commended Henry for his well-deserved appointment, describing it as a testament to his exemplary leadership qualities. He recalled Henry’s impactful tenure as the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President at the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA), an institution where Dr. Odedina himself once studied, served as an NYSC member, lectured, and later rose to become Provost.

“Your appointment comes as no surprise,” Dr. Odedina stated. “You have consistently demonstrated purposeful leadership since your days as a student leader. Your journey continues to inspire those who witnessed your dedication from the beginning.”

Dr. Odedina expressed pride in celebrating Henry as “one of our own” and prayed for divine guidance and strength as the new commissioner takes on serving Ondo State’s youth and contributing to the state’s development.

Ondo State, located in Nigeria’s South-West geopolitical zone, is known for its rich cultural heritage, agricultural potential, and vibrant youth population. With Akure as its capital, the state is home to notable institutions such as the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), and the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA), where both Dr. Odedina and Comrade Henry have strong ties.

The state government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has prioritised youth empowerment and sports development as key drivers of socio-economic growth. Henry’s appointment is expected to further strengthen initiatives aimed at engaging young people and harnessing their potential for the state’s progress.

As Comrade Omoyofunmi Segun Henry assumes office, stakeholders anticipate innovative policies that will elevate youth participation in governance and sports, reinforcing Ondo State’s reputation as a hub for talent and leadership.
