‎ The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Zonal Coordinator, Zone C, Dr. Olawale Omo’oba Orun, has dissociated themselves from a petition reportedly filled before the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the State House of Assembly, and also published in the newspapers by a defunct/proscribed ASUP Chairman of the Ogun State College of Health Technology, (OGSCOHTECH), Ilese-Ijebu, Chapter, Mr. Abiodun Abiodun against the College Provost, Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye.

Omo’oba orun, made this known at a meeting with Academic Staff member of the college, held at the Campus, Ilese-Ijebu, stressed that the act of illegality had heightened tension in the institution, thus creating a fertile ground for avoidable smoothen of academic works and plotting loopholes, misunderstanding and hatred among the management of the institution, adding that it is high time to sheathe their swords and allow peace to reign.

“The attention of the national body of ASUP has been drawn to the illegal petitioning of the Provost of the college and the entire management, the action of the proscribed members covertly petitioning of the Provost and others is illegal, undemocratic and uncivilized.

“I also read it online and on the newspapers and I felt bad the proponent of that petition and publication has committed a very great offence, which we are going to ensure that they were dealt with and prosecuted for.

“As far as I know, there are certain conditions precedent for you to file a petition before the Governor and House of Assembly, so, those who file the petition on our behalf and with the letterhead paper of ASUP will actually punish for the offence”. Omo’oba Orun said

He added that no existence of ASUP members in that chapter, and Abiodun has no moral justification to be parading himself as Chairman of that Chapter, noting that national members of the association has nothing to do with the petition and publication, as it was against the ethics and conduct of the association.

He noted that the Chapter had been proscribed for the past one year now, and the petition of the Provost and the entire management was unjust and uncalled for, saying that many of them were aggressive and overzealousness about their ambitions, and petitioning was not a better ways of addressing issues or registration of grievances.

He said that the issue is a vendetta which should not be part of the system that making somebody, and it was not even in the spirit of ASUP to be petitioning one another, adding that it was what they did last year that make the chapel became a retailer of the Zonal chapter.

“As am talking to you, am the Zonal Coordinator, Zone C and also double as the Ogscohtech chapter Chairman of the council, since the activities of the chapter had been revoked, I have been in charge, and I see no reason why Mr. Abiodun Abiodun will be using our letterhead paper to malign and petition the Provost, it is only take a rude and disobedient officer to engage in such act,” Omo’ba Orun said

He assured the staff and the entire management of the college that a disciplinary committee of ethics and conduct would be constituted to punish the erring officers that involved in the petitioning of the Provost and the management, noting that Mr. Abiodun Abiodun would face the full wrath of the law, for taking the law into his hands and using ASUP’s letterhead paper to malign the Provost, management and the entire college.

He also said that the electoral committee would also set up to conduct election of ASUP executive council members of the college, noting that they only have an administrative offices across the colleges of the federation, while having only one certificate from the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

He urged the management of the college to temper justice with mercy to pardon their erring members and reinstate them, promising that they would turn a new leave and repent their sins, as most of were ignorant, not well informed and educated on the ways of relating with people in academic environment.
