Olokemeji: LG Boss, Semiu Bola Lawal seeks synergy to tackle security challenges

The Transition Chairman of Odeda Local government, Hon. Semiu Bola Lawal has emphasised the need for stronger synergy between security agencies and the community leaders to be able to surmount the intractable security concerns in the local government.

Lawal who spoke at a security stakeholders meeting in his office yesterday, Thursday reiterated the resolve of the Local Government to collaborate with other relevant security agencies and other critical stakeholders in the security architecture of the LG to tackle the protracted security challenges, expecially herdsmen.

The council boss stressed that community engagement in policing the nation is the only way out of the incessant killings and other forms of organised crimes currently threatening the national security.

He commended the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his leadership roles in dousing the tension at Olokemeji, the clash that led to loss of life and properties.

He retraited Governor Dapo Abiodun’s warning that the state government will not condone any act of lawlessness exhibited by individuals or group of persons to cause disunity in the state.

“We are already engaging all stakeholders and this will continue. Everybody must be made to realise that they cannot take laws into their hands. We are speaking with Miyetti Allah Cattle breeders and the Sarkin of the Hausa/Fulani community and our brothers and sisters from Olokemeji and other ethnic groups that might have chosen to live and do businesses in our State. We are also talking with local hunters and other local security personnel too.
