Ogun: State, LG officers attend step-down training on capacity development

The Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning and Chairman of Council; Ogun State Bureau of Statistics, Mr Olaolu Olabimtan yesterday graced the first day of the three-day session of the step-down training for officers from the state bureau of statistics and selected local government councils organized by GIZ-SEDIN in collaboration with National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and Ogun state Bureau of Statistics (OGBS) holding at GIZ-Office, Abeokuta.
GIZ-SEDIN is a German Corporation that is supporting Pro-poor growth and promotion of employment in Nigeria. It supports implementation partners in improving the employment and income situation of Medium Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs). The programme cooperates with partners at the federal (NBS), state (OGBS) and local levels.
Presently, GIZ-SEDIN operates in 8 states of the federation including Ogun state.
GIZ help MSMEs to improve access to financial services, in building financial competence, and promote entrepreneur skills amongst others at the grassroots.
The step-down training on capacity development support for officers from the state bureau of statistics and selected local government Councils includes but not limited to; statistical production process in Nigeria, building data and information management system in state bureau of statistics and LGAs, managing administrative statistics under the National Strategy for the development of Statistics, fundamentals of survey methodology on conduct of household survey, Introduction to data collection methods and report writing, Introduction to modern techniques for data capturing using CAPI, and Data analysis.
Mr Olaolu Olabimtan appreciated GIZ for support to the state and stressed the need for GIZ to work with the Ogun State development partner coordination mechanism to achieve better results while also stating the need for all participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to learn. Mr Olabimtan also charged GIZ to ensure proper evaluation so the state can be sure it achieves the desired outcomes and impact.
Among those present for the session were, M & E Advisor (Pro-poor Growth & Promotion of Employment in Nigeria prog), GIZ-SEDIN, Mr Nose Obayuwanse, Regional Head of Component LED, GIZ-SEDIN, Mrs Sina Uti-watis.
Attendees also included Director of E&S. Statistics, MR Bolarinde S A and Director of Budget, Planning, Research & Statistics Odeda Local Govt ( Mrs Majekodunmi B)
