Ogun Assembly Speaker, Oluomo Mourns Over Death of Ekiti Speaker, Afuye

The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly Rt Hon (Prince) Olakunle Taiwo Oluomo has expressed shock at the news of the death of his Ekiti State counterpart, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the Rt Honourable Speaker on Media and Publicity, Mallam AbdulGhaffar Adeleye indicated that Prince Oluomo described the death as a monumental loss to Ekiti state and Nigeria at large, noting that the late Speaker was a thorough bred politician who had the love of his people at heart, till death took him.

According to him, “Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye’s death came at a time his legislative expertise would be needed in the new administration that just took off in the State”
“The news of his death came as a rude shock. His experience in governance as well as his gentleman approach to issues shall be greatly missed”

Rt Hon Oluomo, who doubles as the National Vice chairman (South West), Conference of Speakers of State legislatures urged his family members, constituents and the entire legislative arm of government in the country to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived an impactful life, worthy of emulation.

“The South West Speakers have lost one of our pillars. We are bereaved. May the Lord rest his soul peacefully” he concluded.
