Ogun 2019: INEC ‘ll soon declare Adebutu PDP candidate –PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday has said the Senator representing Ogun East senatorial District of Ogun State, Senator Buruji Kashamu can not be its party Governorship Candidate for the 2019 general elections.
The assertion was made in a statement issued by the National body of the party and made available to our correspondent by the Media Consultant to Ogun state Chapter of PDP, Mr. Afolabi Orekoya. The Statement was issued as a swift reaction to the public declaration of Senator Kashamu that his name has been replaced for Leke Shitu who was earlier published weeks ago by INEC as the Governorship Candidate of the party in Ogun State.
The National body of the party through the statement called on the good people of Ogun State and well-meaning Nigerians to disregard the wishful thinking of Kashamu saying “apart from the fact that Kashamu is of a questionable character with lack of integrity to represent the Party as its candidate, he is not a member of the party because he has been expelled months ago and did not participate in the primary process as provided by the electoral law”.
The party also said Kashamu has no recognition by the party, that he did not obtain Intention and nomination forms from the party so how come will he now be substituted as the Party Governorship Candidate.
The statement went further to say that “the only recognized chapter of the party in Ogun State is the Sikirulai Ogundele led exco that produced Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu as our Governorship Candidate, the matter in the appeal and supreme courts will soon be concluded and the truth will prevail, then, our real candidate in the person of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu will be published by INEC.
