Northwest Youths Declare Support for Rinsola Abiola as APC National Youth Leader

…extol qualities as a committed youth advocate and party faithful

An amalgamation of youth groups of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the seven states of the North-West region has expressed support for the emergence of Rinsola Abiola as the party’s next National Youth Leader at its national convention slated for the 26th of March.

The groups, comprised of active delegates and influential members, made the declaration on Thursday, March 17, after a meeting in Kano. The announcement further brightens the chances of Miss. Abiola, and follows her acquisition of the party’s nomination and expression of interest form at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Explaining their reason for the endorsement and support, the Zonal Coordinator of the joint groups, Sabiu Sulaiman Ibrahim, said that apart from the party’s zoning arrangement which cedes the position to the South-West region where Rinsola Abiola hails from, she has over the years proven herself as a committed youth advocate and detribalized Nigerian in the mold of her father and late democracy hero, Chief MKO Abiola.

He said: “After exhaustive deliberations with our youth associations across Northwest geopolitical zone, we have come to agree on a common ground in support of the daughter of the legend late Chief MKO Abiola, Rinsola Abiola, who is contesting for the position of National Youth Leader, under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).”

“She has all it takes to contest for the position and bring new changes to the development of youth in the overall national development.”

“We can understand that part of what she has on her shopping list, is to mobilize young voters for the 2023 elections through extensive nationwide engagements with different segments of youths across the country. With this, she can be able to help Nigerian youth navigate correctly with clear vision and direction.”

The groups also expressed confidence over her promise to offer support to young candidates and improve their chances at the polls with crucial branding and promotional guidance, alongside legal advice and other recommendations necessary for victory.

“Our ultimate choice, Rinsola Abiola, has a plan to establish a central unit to support young candidates with many things, from legal advice to campaign branding and materials. This will further strengthen and consolidate on the successes and philosophy of NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN movement,” he continued.

“The support we give to this courageous and committed role model is not only for the sake of this contest. No. But also because she intends to enhance youth mainstreaming by supporting not only young candidates, but also by negotiating to have more young people appointed into positions across the different levels of government.”

“Our choice, Rinsola, is committed to youth and women inclusion in politics; she believes in creating spaces for our women and young ones and above all, she is unarguably patriotic and detribalized, just like her late father Chief MKO Abiola, of blessed memory.”

The support has buoyed Rinsola Abiola’s bid for the position, further distinguishing her as the clear front-runner as more and more party members and delegates acknowledge and commit to the historic opportunity to become the first major political party in Nigeria to elect a young woman as its National Youth Leader.
