Nigeria vs Serbia: Mitrovic hits brace to condemn Super Eagles to defeat

Newcastle United’s Aleksandar Mitrović scored a second half brace to earn Serbia a 2-0 win over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a pre-World Cup international friendly match played Tuesday night.

MitrovicThe match which saw the teams going into the interval without any goal, came into life in the second half as the Serbians aim for a win.

Mitrovic scores his first in the 68th minute before doubling the tally twelve minutes later.

Gernot Rohr decided to relegate Kelechi Iheanacho and Odion Ighalo to the bench as he prefered Ahmed Musa upfront.

Also, Ogenyi Onazi came into the midfield in a bid to take a look at his options ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

With possession at 50/50, the Eagles were able to hold their own until Dušan Tadic opened up the Nigerians’ defence in the second half to allow the attackers have an easy go at goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

The Super Eagles had won their first pre-World Cup international friendly match against top-ranked Poland on Friday with a lone goal.
