How Bureau of Transport under Gov. Amosun made N62,000 in a year.

The Ogun State Transport Union Committee had achieved another commendable feat by discovering loads of financial discrepancies, and anomalies in the ticketing system and revenue generation in the State.
These discoveries were revealed during the meeting held on Wednesday in Abeokuta between the transport committee, some staff of Parks and Garrages Development Board (PAGADEB) and that of Bureau of Transport (BOT).
In the meeting, several discrepancies and financial irregularities on ticketing in PAGADEB were uncovered. The committee ascertained that in the last three years of the last administration under Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the Board did not succeed in generating any reasonable amount into the government coffers.
According to the committee, for instance, the total income generated was a paltry sum of Sixty Two Thousand Naira (N62,000.00) while the newly constituted Transport Union Committee of the present administration has generated over One million naira between middle of June 2019 till mid July 2019.
The two officials who appeared for PAGADEB were not able to provide concrete defence on the variances.
The Chairman, the scribe and other committee members questioned their effrontery and audacity in awarding contracts to agencies without channelling through the appropriate channels.
The PAGADEB officers also informed the committee that there were numerous toll points unknown to the board which had existed for some years, that they were getting to know of when this new administration in Ogun State took over.
The Chairman expressed his disappointment and disbelief in the revelations made by these government officials.
In the same vein, the officials of Bureau of Transportation reported that there had not been any authorised toll collection and activities since 2016, until this July 2019 that they sought the approval of the Ogun State Head of service to allow them on a test run exercise for two months, so to engage contractors in generating Road Tax Levy revenue.
The Chairman of the Committee aftermath directed the agencies should terminate all the revenue contracts awarded, he told the officials to report back on Friday 26th July with some documents.
Also present at the meeting was Mr Gbenga Adesina, the consultant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
The officials of the two boards were directed to come on Friday 26th of July with a comprehensive and well tabulated records of accounts and activities.
