Exclusive: ‘My only focus is getting Oyetola re-elected’, Omisore hits back at Aregbesola

Former Osun State gubernatorial candidate and Senator, Iyiola Omisore has fired back at Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, saying his only focus is getting Gov Adegboyega Oyetola re-elected in the 2022 gubernatorial election.

Recall that on Tuesday, 15th February 2022, a video showing Aregbesola telling his supporters that Oyetola will be removed just like Ambode in Lagos went viral. The Interior Minister also called out Tinubu for not calling Oyetola to order.

He said, “When he (Tinubu) handed over the present governor to me around July of 2018, he (Tinubu) declared that Gov Oyetola will succeed me and continue my good works.

“That was what he told me. He knows he has not done so if he is listening now, and he has failed to call my successor to order.

“That was how it was in Lagos at a time; a governor derailed and the party members unseated him using the ballot boxes. As it was in Lagos yesterday, so shall it be in Osun today. What is good for the goose is also good for the gander.”

In reaction to Aregbesola’s statement, Omisore stated that working against the re-election of Gov Oyetola is a waste of time.

“Whatever anyone is doing to disrupt the peace of Osun State with a view to disturbing Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s re-election is a mere waste of time.

“My only focus, for now, is getting Oyetola re-elected during the July 16 governorship election. The primary is a done deal. You can see the acceptability among party members and the populace during the ongoing tour of local government areas of the state.

“So, we are not distracted, we remain focused, we are progressing with our resolve. Presently, every other person’s ambition is on hold, until we are done with Oyetola’s second term ambition”, Omisore said.
