COVID-19 Protocol Violations: LG Boss vows to close market, gives three days notice

The Transition committee chairman of Odeda Local government of Ogun state, Hon. Semiu Bola Lawal has expressed displeasure over the poor level of compliance with simple safety measures of wearing masks at Odo Eran/Gbodogun market.

Lawal who gave the warning on Tuesday evening during his visit to some selected markets and interaction with the citizens of the local government He said; “It is disheartening to see market women not adhering to even the basic guidelines of facial covering. These guidelines have been put in place in order to save and safeguard lives. He therefore, give them till friday to comply with the directive or else the market will be closed.

The LG Boss stressed the need for market men and women to comply to the directive so that collectively, the country could defeat the rampaging scourge.

“The face masks are not to be kept in the pocket. Rather, they are meant to be worn in the public to prevent further transmission of the virus,” he said.

He added the local government health workers were directed to embark on massive awareness campaigns in all markets in the local government.

Lawal enjoined all community leaders , traditional rulers and grassroots leaders at different levels in sensitization of people on this virus.

He insisted that we are not yet safe, adding that utmost caution should be exercised across the local market.
