Breaking: APC Suspends Forestry Commission Chairman for Undermining Party Unity

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced on Monday the suspension of the Chairman of the state’s Forestry Commission, Valentine Asuen.

In a press statement, the Publicity Secretary of the party, Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, said Asuen’s suspension was necessitated by his conduct, which runs contrary to the spirit of unity, loyalty, and collective progress enshrined in the party’s constitution.

Uwadiae-Igbinigie stated that Asuen’s actions were deemed to amount to inciting division within the party, thereby undermining the cohesion and discipline expected of every member.

The statement reads: “The All Progressives Congress wishes to inform its members and the general public that Hon. Valentine Asuen has been suspended from the party in accordance with the provisions of the APC Constitution 2022, as amended.

“This disciplinary action became necessary following his conduct, which runs contrary to the spirit of unity, loyalty, and collective progress enshrined in our constitution.

“His actions have been deemed to amount to inciting division within the Party, thereby undermining the cohesion and discipline expected of every member.

“In line with Article 21:2 (ii) & (v) of the Party Constitution 2022, as amended, such conduct constitutes a violation of the obligations of a member.

“Furthermore, as clearly stipulated in Article 21:5 (a), (c), (d), (e), (f) & (h), these infractions are punishable offences, warranting disciplinary measures including suspension.”

Uwadiae-Igbinigie said the APC remained committed to internal democracy, discipline, and the protection of its integrity, noting that no act capable of destabilizing the party or inciting disaffection amongst members would be condoned.

He added: “Let it be clearly stated that all appointments made thus far by Governor Monday Okpebholo have been evenly distributed across the state, including Oredo Local Government Area, without any undue influence from the Party’s Secretary, Engr. Lawrence Okah.

“The party urges all members to remain steadfast, united, and focused on the collective vision of the APC, as we continue to work towards delivering good governance and democratic dividends to the people.”

Efforts to talk to Asuen proved abortive as one of his allies said he was holidaying abroad.
