Adebutu Donates ₦100m Housing Project to Egba Muslim Community, Traces Ancestral Roots to Odeda

Abeokuta – Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu, the Lisa Aje of Egbaland and 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has donated a ₦100 million housing project to the Egba Muslim Council. The project, comprising eight units of two-bedroom flats, is located in Kobiti, Sodeke Titun, Abeokuta North Local Government, with its foundation laid on Thursday, 31st July, 2025.

The housing initiative is part of the Egba Muslim Council’s plan to expand the Egba Central Mosque at Kobiti, which currently lacks sufficient space to accommodate the growing Muslim population in Egbaland. The expansion will require the demolition of nearby residential buildings, and after consultations with affected residents, the Council resolved to provide alternative accommodation.

Adebutu’s intervention was highly commended by the Chief Imam of Egbaland, represented by Alhaji Dawood Afuape, the Olori Ratibi of Egbaland and second-in-command to the Chief Imam. He described the donation as a compassionate and timely gesture that ensures affected families are relocated with dignity.

*”Lisa Aje Egba promised to build houses for the families affected by the expansion project of the Egba Central Mosque, and today, he is keeping his word,”* Afuape said. *”The ₦100 million donation will fully fund the construction of eight modern housing units within the same community, preserving social ties while supporting the Council’s infrastructural growth.”*

He further highlighted the Adebutu family’s longstanding contributions to Egbaland’s development, including the construction of standard halls at the Abeokuta Sports Club and Abeokuta Club, buildings in higher institutions, and well-equipped hospital rooms in Abeokuta, among other projects.

The Egba Muslim Council praised Adebutu’s dedication to the community, with one elder remarking, *”This is not just a donation; it’s a reaffirmation of identity. Ladi has once again shown us that he is not only a leader by title but by heart and heritage.”*

Adebutu, whose ancestral roots trace back to Ijeun Akoni in Odeda Local Government, is widely regarded as a true son of the soil, with a consistent record of grassroots engagement and philanthropy across Ogun State.

The foundation-laying ceremony signals that construction and delivery of the housing units will commence soon, marking another milestone in community development efforts.
