Abiodun Assures Statewide Development, Details Road Projects for Ogun West

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring even development across all parts of the state, dismissing claims of neglect in certain areas as politically motivated mischief.

The reassurance came via a statement from the Governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Kayode Akinmade, which highlighted a series of ongoing and completed road projects, particularly in the Ifo-Sango Ota axis.

Addressing the “Trending” Road
Akinmade specifically addressed the much-discussed Ota-Lafenwa-Ayetoro Road, clarifying that it has already been captured in the state’s 2026 budget, long before the recent social media attention. He described this as confirmation of the governor’s determination to spread infrastructure projects as resources allow.

Massive Road Works in Ogun West
The statement detailed an extensive list of interventions in the Ogun West senatorial district, including:

· Federal Roads Taken Over: The state is currently rehabilitating the 140-kilometre Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway and the Sango-Idiroko Highway, despite both being federal roads.
· Substantial Completions: About 22 kilometres of the Ijoko-Agbado-Alagbole road have been completed.
· Multiple Ongoing Projects: The Sango-Ijoko-Agbado-Oke Aro-Lambe-Akute road (30km), Sango Ota-Papalanto-Abeokuta road (140km), and Sango-Idiroko road (63km) are all active construction sites with over 50% progress reported, though pace has been affected by the rainy season.

The government also listed 14 roads already completed within the Ifo and Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Areas, spanning over 60 kilometres.

A Legacy of Inherited Deficit
Akinmade emphasised that the current administration inherited a”huge infrastructure deficit” in 2019, with many of the roads now being fixed having been in a deplorable state for years. He warned the public against the “antics of opposition politicians” seeking to tarnish the government’s image, pointing to the ongoing projects and positive feedback from residents as evidence of tangible progress.

The statement concluded with a firm promise that the widespread development sweeping the state, which includes recent landmark projects like an airport and sports complex, “will not exclude any part of the state.”
