2019 Election: Amosun teams up with Obasanjo against Buhari!

The 2019 elections will turn out to be a very interesting one as political realignment are ongoing in various states across the federation. Such alignment occurred yesterday in Ogun State when the former President Olusegun Obasanjo paid an unscheduled visit to the office of the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

Former President Obasanjo has been known to publicly criticised President Buhari and recently declared his support for Atiku Abubakar who was his Vice President between 1999 – 2007.

According to sources from the governor’s camp, Governor Ibikunle Amosun had already spoken to Obasanjo on phone about how President Buhari had betrayed him during the recently concluded governorship, national and house of assembly primaries. The governor also told Obasanjo how former governor Osoba and Asiwaju Tinubu teamed together to undermine his authority in the region towards 2023 election permutation.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo decided to pay the governor an unscheduled visit yesterday at his office where sensitive matters where discussed and conclusions were reached. It was revealed that Governor Amosun agreed with Obasanjo on how incompetent President Buhari is and for the governor to retrace his political steps.

Obasanjo was said to have reminded the governor of where his political success started from which was PDP and the need to team up with Atiku Abubakar towards achieving success in the 2019 general election. The governor was said to have agreed but convinced Obasanjo that he can only work for the success of PDP from within the APC due to the fear of political persecution.

Sources at the governor’s office also revealed that the governor didn’t buy into Obasanjo’s idea of Akinlade stepping down for GNI, “the governor made it clear to baba that Akinlade is more popular than GNI and he has the financial war chest of N10billion to ensure Akinlade becomes the governor in 2019”
