Ogun Assembly calls for speed breakers along major junctions, roundabouts

Concerned about the incessant road carnage leading to loss of lives in some of the major highways and roads across the State, the Ogun State House of Assembly has directed the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to install speed breakers along some major junctions and roundabouts to reduce speed of vehicles, particularly trucks.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo issued the directive , while responding to a member representing Odeda State Constituency, Oludaisi Elemide, who spoke under Personal Explanation at the plenary on the need for immediate an action on the installation of speed breaker along Idi -Aba Iyana Mortuary junction to reduce incessant accidents occurring within the axis.

The Speaker noted that the directive was a follow up to an earlier resolution passed by the Assembly recently on the need to install speed breakers along some of the roads in the State.

In another development, the Speaker also called on the leadership of the State Security Trust Fund to as a matter of urgency, deploy more operational vehicles and other logistic support including security personnel to border communities to stem unnecessary clashes between herdsmen and farmers especially during the dry season when herders often wander around farmlands in search for green pasture for their cattle.

Oluomo made the call while responding to the presentations of his colleague-lawmakers including Adegoke Adeyanju and Oludaisi Elemide under Personal Explanations, who reported cases on farm invasion by some unknown herdsmen who often set ablaze farmlands in the State.
