Again, Police Arrest Two Traffic Robbers On Lagos Long Bridge

Two suspected armed robbers were on Thursday arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command while they were dispossesing commuters of their belongings at the notorious long bridge along Lagos/Ibadan expressway.


The two suspects, Salam Faruk ‘m’ 18yrs and Sunday Okechukwu 19yrs were arrested at about 9:30pm by the policemen on joint patrol operation co-ordinated by the Area Commander Owode-Egba ACP Irimiya Asimiya while trying to rob motorists who got stuck on traffic gridlock as a result of road construction going on.

In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that the policemen, who are on foot patrol of the area sighted the two suspects who were armed with dagger knife with which they were forcing commuters to surrender their properties, they were subsequently chased and arrested before they could jump under the bridge.

Abimbola, added that while on interrogation, the duo confessed to have come from Lagos to the long bridge for the purpose of robbing motorists held on gridlocks of thier valuables.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation.

The CP also directed 24hrs surveillance patrol on all the highways accross the State so as to checkmate the activities of hoodlums who might want to be disturbing the innocent commuters on the highways.
